Travel Morocco - Some of the tours we organized

It is our fervent hope that Morocco will remain a peaceful country and not get caught up in the violence currently decimating other countries in northern Africa/ the Middle East. There is so much positive energy, so many major new projects, (a complete ‘revamping’ of Tangier for example with new harbours recently completed), an excellent infrastructure (new auto routes,  and the TGV will be operative soon).  I would strongly recommend you go there now, before the country becomes too popular. The Royal Cities route and a tour to the High Atlas are in nearly every tour guide – be different and take an individualized, personalized tour to the fabulous interior of the country and see THE REAL MOROCCO. We are happy to help organize this for our guests – to whom we are able to describe our experiences in even more detail , and to sense whether they are the sort of fun-loving travellers who will enjoy the simplicity and beauty of the tours we do.

Briefing:

This year our tour took us via Imlil (near mount Toubkal) where the early morning walk to see the sunrise was splendid.  From there we visited Asni, and were able to hand over the Dar Cilla financial contribution to Dar Asni, the Hostal for village girls that we have long supported.

Morocco yet again!

2015

Yes, Martina and I are ‘addicted´. This is our fourth tour in its present form, being seven of us (this year only six, one had to drop out) aged between 40 (Martina is the youngest) and 80 (Zoë is the oldest), travelling in two four wheel drives always with our same two Berber drivers/guides,  Brahim and Moha, who we all vote as being the very best of the best.   We were away for just over two weeks, being eleven days on tour (ten nights) with two nights in Marrakech before leaving on tour, and two on return.  An excellent formula.

2013

Seven Gazelles (as we are called in Morocco) ranging in age from 40 to 80, representing four nationalities, and all living in -or with strong links to-  Tarifa, Southen Spain,  travelled together yet again for ten days  in two four-wheel drive Land Cruisers with two Berber drivers in the south of Morocco.

Our priorities:  We may be tourists but we want to feel like travellers; we want to get far away from ‘the madding crowds’ (as in Marrakech); we are totally happy with simple accommodation providing it is clean and with hot (well, at least warm!) water. We all prefer single rooms but when not possible are prepared to share.  We are aware that given the size of the country there can be a few days with long hours (always interspersed with walks) in the car, but the scenery is so mind-boggling that there is no possibility of boredom. We definitely all enjoy our food!

2012

This was my twelfth tour in Morocco (quite aside from the many shorter visits to Tangier, to Marrakech, to Chefchaouen, to Asilah).  When I look at my Master Map I see that I have covered nearly all of Morocco, the last area being to the north-east of Marrakech which we - the seven of us -  are already planning for next year.... and we only got back last week from this year's (2012) tour.  There's no way round it, I am addicted, and I am not the only one!  It is a wonderful country, so varied, such breathtaking scenery.  So far, no two tours have been alike.

Dar Cilla

Zoë is the owner and Martina is the manager of Guest-house Dar Cilla which is unique of its sort in Tarifa. It is located at the Southermost point of Spain and at only 14 km from Morocco.

If you want to know more, or would like us to assist you in organizing a similar tour, or book a day trip to Tangier please contact Martina from Dar Cilla Travel services.

Zoë

I so enjoy traveling Morocco myself with my starting point being Tarifa, that I want to share it with you.
